your daily reminder that Cyntoia Brown has to spend the holidays in prison because she defended herself from being raped at age 16. a petition was created that needs about 20k more signatures in order to bring more attention regarding a clemency to the Senator of Tennessee (where she is currently imprisoned). CYNTOIA BROWN NEEDS TO BE FREED.

a little more about this story for those who aren’t aware.

-Cyntoia Brown is now a 29 year old woman who is in federal prison for murder. Before the murder occurred, she was forced into human trafficking by an older man named “Cutthroat” at age 16 years old. She was repeatedly raped, beaten, and drugged by dozens of men everyday.

-Cyntoia has faced sexual abuse throughout her childhood being that she has been in foster homes numerous times.

-In 2004, She murdered a 43 year old realtor named Johnny Allen who would sexually exploit her. There’s no doubt 16 year old who has been sexually abused multiple times by older men felt threatened at the moment. Regardless of the situation, this is rape. Let me repeat this again for the future idiots who are gonna try to defend this man. What Johnny Allen did to Cyntoia Brown is rape. She was 16, he was 43.

-In 2012, Cyntoia was sentenced to life in prison. The age she’s eligible for parole? 69 years old. She is now 29. If we don’t raise hell to the government of Tennessee, this woman might not get out until another 40 years. IF she is “eligible” for parole.

Here is a list of congressional and senate contact information for the State of Tennessee. From contacting congresspeople to Senators, we can bring justice to this woman.

Let me slide in for a moment…

Have you chosen a car? If not, look at the reviews on the cars you’re thinking about. Do not go into a dealership and NOT know what you want.

After you narrow down what you want, get estimates on how much car insurance will cost you. Check the tag, title and tax laws in your state.

RESEARCH THE VALUE OF THE CAR!!!! I cannot stress how important this is. Look at the Kelley Blue Book value…research how much that car is selling for in your area (example, the Mustang I was looking at was $30,000 in Maryland, it was only $17,000 in Atlanta)

Do not be afraid to bring up the value of the car! DON’T!!! Do not buy a $15,000 car for $23,000.

BE READY TO INSURE THE CAR! No dealer is going to let you drive off the lot without insurance. So I recommend going to buy the car during a weekday or Saturday when your insurance provider is available. Remember depending on the year, you can only get FULL coverage.

Financing, financing, financing. This right here is important. DO NOT LET THEM GIVE YOU A RIDICULOUS APR. Don’t let them jipp you. I knew someone who bought a Mustang with $9,000 down and STILL walked away with a 19.75% APR. Bruh. Don’t be that nigga. No matter how BAD you want that car. That’s just stupidity. If you put $9,000 down on a $22,000 car, you should owe about 13,000 with interest maybe 17/18,000 depending on credit. This person is going to pay $500/month for 7 years. That’s $42,000 for a $22,000 car. C’mon son. Don’t let that be you.

Also, if you put anything over $5,000 down, your damn car note should be NOWHERE near $300/month. No, no, no!! I had a 2007 Ford Fusion and was going to be paying $120/month with NO MONEY DOWN (I had a trade in though). Be wise about financing. Please, if you can get a car you can pay off within 2-4 years and then trade in for something better.

& I hate to say this but if you can, take a man with you. I do not know what it is about being a woman but they really will try you.

As much as you can comfortably. The minimum should be $2500 because the tag, title and tax also going to cost you! The more you put down, the more trustworthy you appear to lenders. Lenders are willing to finance buyers who put a pretty penny down even with not so good credit.

Also. Don’t be afraid to walk away. The salesmans bottom line is $$ and they will try to not let you leave the lot without a car. But play the game, it may get you better prices. Yes, unfortunately the world isn’t fair, bring a man. Sales people will try less shit with you in a mans presence for some reason.

Add $1000 cash to whatever you were planning to put down because once you find the car, Sign the paperwork, and get the keys, they walk you back to the “up charge guy” and that’s when he starts digging deeper into your pockets over warranties and GAP insurance.

And don’t forget you make the rules. You have the $$$ you’re the boss. A closed mouth doesn’t get fed so be aggressive in getting the right deal for you. I’ve learned that it’s all a game when they walk away and come back with that print out with info about what your payments would be and how much would need to be put down. A lot of times the dealer is also the bank or has a very good relationship with lenders so if numbers come back that don’t look good to you tell them no and go try again. They can do anything they want with the numbers. Don’t get yourself into a subprime loan

@versacedurag @kimreesesdaughter Man where were y'all antennas at when I was negotiating for my car I just got in November! LoL. I was a first time buyer and didn’t know what all to lookout for, I just knew I had my eyes set on that Ford Edge and I was gonna get it. My ideal car note payment I wanted was between $350-400 but it’s $575 a month which isn’t bad being that it’s damn near an SUV. But one of the salesman gave me some advice. He told me to get a consigner and pay my note for about 6 months just to build my credit up. And then come trade that car in for something new and I won’t need a cosigner because I should have established so good credit by then. It was a great little experience and I learned a few DO’s and DON'Ts for the next time I go buy a new whip.

Yikes. I have a Jeep, I pay $150/month…I got it in 2013 and it’s a 2014. You should have definitely hollered at the kid.

It should. Paying off anything on your credit should help your score. This is why I hate credit. If you don’t pay the car note and it gets repossessed, your credit suffers tremendously. However if you make every payment on time, your credit improves slightly. But buying a car or house is the best way to improve credit. You have to make sure there are no early payment penalties (Sucks, I know..) Penalties for early repayment do exist. I think lenders do that because they lose so much money on the interest when you pay it off sooner than expected. So make sure the loan/lender you choose doesn’t have an early repayment penalty.

If you’re currently not paying rent and trying to buy a car, you’re probably not thinking about what day your car payment lands on. Typically you finance a car for 3-6 years..In 3-6 years, you’ll probably have your own spot. Rent is due on the 1st…with that being said,
DO NOT BUY YOUR CAR BETWEEN THE 28TH-5TH. If you do, that means you’ll have a car note and rent coming out of one check (if you’re paid bi weekly) I recommend buying your car between the 13th and 20th. Most lenders give you your due date + 10 days after it’s considered late. Please keep this in mind when car shopping.
